1 kg Beans
110 g Onions
200 g Red peppers
200 g Carrots
100 g tinned Tomatoes
100 ml Sunflower oil
1 tbs Savory
1 tbs Spearmint
1 tbs Black pepper
1 tbs Red pepper
1 tsp Salt

One of the simplest traditional Bulgarian meals. Perfect beans stew requires slow, long and low temperature cooking. A must have at Christmas eve’s table. Soo Tasty with Soo Foodies!

  • Soak the beans for 24 hours for faster boiling and assimilation. Rinse well before cooking
  • You can use fresh as well as dry spices (quantity of dry ones should be less in this case)



Take a stew pan and add the soaked beans, water, chopped onion, carrots and red peppers. Stir well and put on the hot plate to get boiled. Reduce temperature, let it burble and cook continuously.


When the beans are cooked /after around 40-60 minutes and depending on sort of beans/ add oil, all the spices and tinned tomatoes. Put in the oven - the beans are ready when the water boils away.
